West Valley High School student helps around the House

Michael Layman, a sophomore at West Valley High School, Yakima, recently served as a page in the Washington House of Representatives. He was sponsored by Rep. Norm Johnson, R-Yakima.
Layman helped to deliver documents, bills and amendments to lawmakers at their desks on the House floor and to their offices. He also attended page school where he studied the actions of the Legislature.
Each year, students between the ages of 14 and 16 travel to Olympia from across the state to help lawmakers during legislative sessions. It’s a fun, educational experience, and pages are paid for their work. To learn more about the page program, go to www.leg.wa.gov/House/Pages/HousePageProgram.aspx.
Layman, 15, is the son of Scott and Julie Layman of Yakima.
