Rep. Norm Johnson sponsors local teens as legislative pages

Dane Hyatt of Naches and Grant Picket of Yakima recently served together as pages in the Washington State House of Representatives. They were sponsored by Rep. Norm Johnson, R-Yakima.
Paging presents students with a unique educational opportunity to participate in the legislative process. Their duties vary from ceremonial tasks, such as presenting the flags, to operational chores like distributing amendments during legislative sessions. Dane and Grant also attended page school during their week in Olympia, where they learned about the legislative process.

Dane is a student at Naches Valley High School. He has been involved in karate for 10 years and is in the high school marching band. Dane is the 15-year-old son of N. Randall Hyatt and Patricia Hyatt of Naches.

Grant attends West Valley Junior High School in Yakima, where he enjoys sports. Grant is the 14-year-old son of William and Laura Pickett of Yakima.
