Selah High School student helps Rep. Norm Johnson in the House

Elena Fresco, a student at Selah High School, recently served as a page in the state House of Representatives. She was sponsored by Rep. Norm Johnson, R-Yakima.

Paging presents students with a unique educational opportunity to participate in the legislative process. Duties vary from ceremonial tasks, such as presenting the flags, to operational chores like distributing amendments during legislative sessions. Elena also attended page school during her week in Olympia, where she learned about the legislative process. She especially enjoyed learning about the statistics behind state government.

Elena is a 15-year-old daughter of André and Lisa Fresco of Yakima. She is involved in track and field, volleyball, writing poems, and she enjoys singing.
