Rep. Norm Johnson re-opens Olympia office, receives new committee assignment
With the opening Monday of the 2018 legislative session, Rep. Norm Johnson has temporarily closed his district office in Yakima, relocating it at the state Capitol in Olympia where he has received a new committee assignment.
Johnson has been appointed to the House State Government, Elections and Information Technology Committee. The legislative committee considers issues relating to state government, including state agency rulemaking, procurement standards, information technology systems and security, performance audits and public employment. It also considers issues relating to elections, campaign finance, public disclosure and ethics in government.
“It is an honor to be appointed to this committee. I have many years of experience serving in local and state government and hope to use that background to keep state government accountable to the people it serves,” said Johnson, R-Yakima.
Johnson also serves on the House Education Committee and the House Rules Committee.
During the scheduled 60-day session, Johnson’s district office in Yakima will be closed and he will be working from his legislative office in Olympia.
