Toppenish teen serves in the House as legislative page

Sheyanne Lewis, a student at Toppenish High School, served as a page in the Washington State House of Representatives. She was sponsored by Rep. Norm Johnson, R-Yakima.   Sheyanne's duties varied from delivering documents to lawmakers and providing messages to them in committee meetings and on the House floor. She also continued her studies for two hours each day in the Legislative Page School.   To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor and be between the ages of 14 and 16.   Sheyanne is the 15-year-old daughter of Julia Leslie and Virgil Lewis, Sr., who serves as a member of the Yakama Nation Tribal Council. The family lives in Toppenish.   For more information about the House page program, visit: http://www.leg.wa.gov/House/Pages/HousePageProgram.aspx.  Rep.
